Refuge From the Smoke

A Moment in Photographic History:
Franco-Luxembourgian physicist and inventor Gabriel Jonas Lippmann was born August 16, 1845. In 1908, Lippmanm was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his colour photographic plate which used light wave interference which is kind of like what causes the colours in soap bubbles.

An unusual but imposing structure. I like the barely visible horse as an element and as giving scale.

captivating image of a really fascinating place. The fog all around and the horse in the shadow of this strange building give it a mysterious ambiance.

Really spooky with that horse standing there. Everything seems out of place, other-worldly. Great capture!

What a great image – a really unusual structure, the horse sheltering and almost in the shadows and the mist. It all works so well. :)

What an amazing building. I assume that is smoke. It helps make a very fine photo. Mysterious.
