On the Other Side
Mon ,22/09/2008A Moment in Photographic History:
Two New Zealand photographers were born September 22, 1870. James Henry Daroux and his twin brother Louis John Daroux were both photographers. James is best known for his photographs of the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. Louis is best known for patenting a new improved livestock castration device. Ouch.
A Photographic Quote of Note:
A Ming vase can be well-designed and well-made and is beautiful for that reason alone. I don’t think this can be true for photography. Unless there is something a little incomplete and a little strange, it will simply look like a copy of something pretty. We won’t take an interest in it.
