A Moment in Photographic History:
French photographer, Jean-Baptiste Gustave Le Gray, died on July 29, 1884. Although he is not the most well known of French photographers, he is probably the most important nineteenth century French phtographer because of his innovations. He invented the waxed-paper negative which was a huge leap forward in his time. He also invented out a collodion process but failed to publish until after Frederick Scott Archer published his process. He is also important because he taught many of the other great French photographers.
