Once Upon A Time
Mon ,07/04/2008It is probable that this sign served a purpose at one time. No longer. It is a forgotten warning.
A Photographic Process in History:
Did you know that Joseph Swan patented the Carbon Print in 1864. Carbon prints were an exquisite permanent image with no grain and had a wide tonal range. The process involved printing negatives onto a “tissue” containing carbon and other pigments in a gelatin base. The gelatin had previously been made light-sensitive by a bath of potassium bichromate. After washing, the image on the tissue was transferred to a paper base and the backing of the tissue was stripped off.
A Photographic Quote of Note:
Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.
