My Photoshop (Non Windows)
Thu ,03/04/2008Shot on Fujichrome, this is what my darkroom looked like in February 1985. There are two sinks in the right bench but I couldn’t get running water there without a huge expense so I rigged up a film washer with water coming from a cistern arrangement the top shelf. Two 5 gallon buckets under the sinks caught the waste water. The two cords running diagonally across the ceiling were attached to the overhead light so I could turn the light on or off from anywhere in the room.
Mats on the floor to ease the aching feet. A wheeled stool for when I was sitting at my light table. Unseen to the right of the camera is the film drying cabinet.
I am getting a little teary eyed just looking at it. Now I sit at a computer trying to do the same things that I used to do with my hands. My computer desk, however, is just as messy as the room.
A Moment in Photographic History:
German photographer Walter Ballhause was born April 3, 1911. Because he was a socialist, Ballhause spent most of World War 2 under arrest.
A Photographic Quote of Note:
The purpose of art is to raise people to a higher level of awareness than they would otherwise attain on their own.
