A Moment in Photographic History:
Czech photographer Josef Sudek was born March 17, 1896. He is best known for his amazing shots of Prague night scenes.  He stumbled into photography. Or rather, he was blown into photography. He was drafted into Austro-Hungarian Army and fought in World War One where he was severely wounded and had his right arm amputated. He could no longer fight and so was given a camera. He founded the Czech Photographic Society in 1924.

A photographic Quote of Note:

I am of the opinion that to dodge a negative in any way whatever except the spotting out of unavoidable mechanical defects, is not art, but a miserable confession of inability to treat photography as a fine art… I contend that… any artistic effect desired can be faithfully done by pure photography without any retouching whatever.
